International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences is a blind refereed international journal of the Orthopaedic Surgeon and Practitioners' Society (OSPS), India. All papers undergo peer review by the subject-specific reviewers with an expert editor using the blind peer review system. The journal publishes quarterly (March, June, September and December) and the accepted manuscripts are published as per the open access publication policy.
A manuscript will be reviewed for possible publication with the understanding that it is being submitted to International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences alone at that point in time and has not been published anywhere, simultaneously submitted, or already accepted for publication elsewhere. The journal expects that authors would authorize one of them to correspond with the journal for all matters related to the manuscript. All manuscripts received are duly acknowledged. On submission, editors review all submitted manuscripts initially for suitability for formal review. Manuscripts with insufficient originality, serious scientific or technical flaws, or lack of a significant message are rejected before proceeding for formal peer-review. Manuscripts that are unlikely to be of interest to the International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences readers are also liable to be rejected at this stage itself.
Manuscripts that are found suitable for publication in International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences are sent to two or more expert reviewers. During submission, the contributor is requested to provide names of two or three qualified reviewers who have had experience in the subject of the submitted manuscript, but this is not mandatory. The reviewers should not be affiliated with the same institutes as the contributor/s. However, the selection of these reviewers is at the sole discretion of the editor. The journal follows a double-blind review process, wherein the reviewers and authors are unaware of each other’s identity. Every manuscript is also assigned to a member of the editorial team, who based on the comments from the reviewers takes a final decision on the manuscript. The comments and suggestions (acceptance/ rejection/ amendments in manuscript) received from reviewers are conveyed to the corresponding author. If required, the author is requested to provide a point by point response to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. This process is repeated till reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript.
Manuscripts accepted for publication are copy edited for grammar, punctuation, print style, and format. Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author. The corresponding author is expected to return the corrected proofs within seven days. It may not be possible to incorporate corrections received after that period. The whole process of submission of the manuscript to final decision and sending and receiving proofs is completed online. To achieve faster and greater dissemination of knowledge and information, the journal publishes articles online as ‘Ahead of Print’ immediately on acceptance.
How long does the review process take?
Typically the manuscript will be reviewed within 20 days. Should the reviewers' reports contradict one another or a report is unduly delayed, a further expert opinion will be sought. Reviewers and Senior Editors may request more than one revision of a manuscript, and alternative reviewers may also be invited to review the manuscript at any time.
The final decision and time to publication
The Senior Editor is responsible for the decision to reject or recommend the manuscript for publication. This decision will be sent to the author along with any recommendations made by the referees. Please note we may forward accepted papers for legal review if appropriate. After acceptance it takes another 20 days to get the final corrected article online.

All authors of must disclose any and all conflicts of interest they may have with publication of the manuscript or an institution or product that is mentioned in the manuscript and/or is important to the outcome of the study presented.

Corresponding authors must be declared that the manuscript is submitted on behalf of all authors. Rejected manuscript will not be returned to the authors. Submission of a manuscript signifies acceptance of journal's guidelines for authors.
The article should clearly describe new and carefully confirmed results and experimental procedure which should be given in required details for others to verify the work. The manuscript should be prepared in English using "MS Word". "Times New Roman" font should be used.
The font size of text should be of 12pt. Headings should be in bold. All research articles should have the following sections: Title page, Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (if any) and References. The sections in text should be subdivided as 1, 1.1, 2, 2.1, 2.1.2. likewise.
Types of Manuscripts:Original articles:Title:
The title should then followed by the author name and the institution name and address by indicating suitable superscripts. Title page should contain title of the paper in bold face, title case, names of the authors in normal face, upper case (font size 11) followed by the address(es) in normal face lower case. An asterisk (*) must be placed after the corresponding authors name as superscript whose email id, fax, telephone number can be given. Corresponding author has the responsibility to ensure that all co-authors are aware and approve the contents of the submitted manuscript. The address and affiliation, e-mail of all co-authors should also give.
This section should detail the problems, experimental approach, major findings and conclusion in one paragraph and should appear on the second page. Avoid abbreviation, diagram and references in the abstract. It should be single - spaced and should not exceed 150-300 words. Author(s) should not give any references in abstract.
Author(s) must give about 3-6 key words which can identify the most important subjects covered by the paper. They must be placed at the end of the abstract.
The manuscript should include a brief introduction stating the purpose of the investigation and relating the manuscript to similar previous research. Only information essential to the arguments should be presented.
Materials and Methods:
This section must contain specific details about the materials studied, instruments used, specialized chemicals source and related experimental details which allows other research worker to reproduce the results. Obtain permission for all fully borrowed, adapted, and modified tables and provide a credit line in the footnote.
Results and Discussion:
The results should be concisely presented. Results and discussion may be separate or combined based on the author’s requirement. Tables and figures should be designed to maximize the comprehension of the experimental data. The interpreted results should be explained clearly in discussions and should relate them to the existing knowledge in the field as clearly as possible. Tables, Graphs and figures (Illustrations) should be inserted in to the main text at respective place they should appear when published and should have appropriate numbers and titles with an explanatory heading. Labels of the table, graph and figures MUST be in the text form and should not form part of the image. Those photographs must be clear and sharp. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction.
The author should conclude his/her finding accordingly.
This section can be kept at the end of the manuscript before reference section. This section can be used to acknowledge the help of those who do not qualify for authorship or to acknowledge funding, donated resources or significant contribution to the research.
References to the literature cited for the manuscript should be numbered in order of appearance in the manuscript and cited in the text with superscript numbers like [1,2,3… ]. The reference number should follow the following format.

It is expected that these articles would be written by individuals who have done substantial work on the subject or are considered experts in the field. A short summary of the work done by the contributor(s) in the field of review should accompany the manuscript.
The prescribed word count is up to 4000 words excluding tables, references and abstract. The manuscript may have about 90 references. The manuscript should have an unstructured Abstract (250 words) representing an accurate summary of the article. The section titles would depend upon the topic reviewed. Authors submitting review article should include a section describing the methods used for locating, selecting, extracting, and synthesizing data. These methods should also be summarized in the abstract.
The journal expects the contributors to give post-publication updates on the subject of review. The update should be brief, covering the advances in the field after the publication of the article and should be sent as a letter to editor, as and when major development occurs in the field.
New, interesting and rare cases can be reported. They should be unique, describing a great diagnostic or therapeutic challenge and providing a learning point for the readers. Cases with clinical significance or implications will be given priority. These communications could be of up to 1000 words (excluding Abstract and references) and should have the following headings: Abstract (unstructured), Key-words, Introduction, Case report, Discussion, Reference, Tables and Legends in that order.
The manuscript could be of up to 1000 words (excluding references and abstract) and could be supported with up to 10 references. Case Reports could be authored by up to 6 authors.
Letter to the Editor:
These should be short and decisive observations. They should preferably be related to articles previously published in the Journal or views expressed in the journal. They should not be preliminary observations that need a later paper for validation. The letter could have up to 500 words and 5 references. It could be generally authored by not more than four authors.
Editorial, Guest Editorial, Commentary and Opinion are solicited by the editorial board.
All the figures should be in JPG/JPEG format in a word file. The figures should be with the width of 75 mm/155 mm with the resolution of 300 dpi. Figures should be numbered as they are cited in the main text. If the figure is a plate, each figure should be subdivided by using upper case letters of bold “Arial” font size as required but similar in all. Legends of all figures should be provided on a separate page.
The table should be made as simple as possible. Only a few horizontal lines should be used without vertical lines in the table. Each table should be consecutively numbered in Arabic numerals with a self-descriptive heading and/or legend. Any abbreviation or symbol used in the table should be described in the legend. The same data should not be represented in tables and in graphs.
Protection of Patients' Rights to Privacy:
Identifying information should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, sonograms, CT scans, etc., and pedigrees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent or guardian, wherever applicable) gives informed consent for publication. Authors should remove patients' names from figures unless they have obtained informed consent from the patients. The journal abides by ICMJE guidelines:
1)Authors, not the journals nor the publisher, need to obtain the patient consent form before the publication and have the form properly archived. The consent forms are not to be uploaded with the cover letter or sent through email to editorial or publisher offices.
2)If the manuscript contains patient images that preclude anonymity, or a description that has obvious indication to the identity of the patient, a statement about obtaining informed patient consent should be indicated in the manuscript.
There is no article 'submission fee' in the Journal. But, as the Journal is not receiving any governmental &/or non-governmental financial add, the authors are required to pay an article 'handling / processing fee' (after peer review and acceptance). This fee contributes to the costs involved in DOI allocation, Indexing, Formatting, Publication process and Web development.

Instructions for Reviewers:
Criteria for Reviewing: Reviewers could judge any manuscript on the basis of following criteria:
1.Format of the Article: Any major divergence from the standard manuscript format should be indicated.
2.Technical Presentation: The research article should be technically presented instead of being presented as a story. Mere repetition of past work should not be accepted. You can look for conceptual advancement over previously published work. Any major omission of the previously published findings on the similar problem must be checked.
3.Interpretation of Result: The discussion should hover around the result and should not include irrelevant and unachievable statement.
4.Statistical Presentation: Proper statistics should be applied over the data wherever found necessary.
5.Plagiarism of Data: Data showing any type of suspicion, duplication and manipulation must be brought to the notice of the author(s).
6.Summary: Pin point the strength and weakness of the article considering potential importance of the work in the context of present and future.
7.Conclusion: At the end reviewer(s) can recommend necessary corrections needed to accept the paper, if they are actually required, else recommend it for publication. If found unsuitable the paper should be declared as unacceptable for publication.
