Abstract: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a major cause of disability worlwide. Alternative treatments are preferred due to the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal side effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Nutraceuticals help in balancing anabolic and catabolic processes in the joint tissue, improve redox balance, free-radical scavenging, thus provide cartilage protection. The anti-inflammatory, chondroprotection and antioxidant action of nutraceuticals help in the modification of OA pathophysiology and prevent destruction of articulate cartilage. In this current review, we have highlighted many existing nutraceuticals that have good efficacy, safety & easy accessibility.
