Abstract:

Background in abstract one common cause of joint stiffness in adults that may need surgical release is neglected elbow dislocation. For untreated elbow dislocation, there is no high-level evidence about the most effective surgical treatment option. This article reviewed the body of research on open ignored elbow dislocation that is currently available.
Methods A thorough search of the literature was done. A systematic review that complied with PRISMA was carried out. Following a set of predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, the titles and abstracts of all possibly pertinent articles were examined. Two writes separately extracted data from the included papers following the initial evaluation for inclusion.
Results: 265 patients treated for neglected elbow dislocations were the subject of 15 included articles. The average dislocation lasted five months, with a range of one to sixty months. Each and every dislocation was type posterior. The range of preoperative movement was 19.3° (0°-80°) on average. The Speed method was the most often used procedure. We observed increased mobility following surgery. Mobility after surgery was 96.93° on average (range: 43°-109°). The rate of complications, however, is 17.4%. Patients’ elbow ranges before and after surgery differed significantly (p=0.002).
In conclusion in cases of neglected luxation, the Speed technique is a way to improve elbow function and restore stability.
Conclusion Speed technique is a method to restore stability and improve the function of the elbow in case of neglected luxation.
This systematic review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42020219472).
